Souvenir Catalogue WorkshopJuly 10, 2018
On Sunday 8 July at Mission Arts local artist Sue Pullman conducted a workshop, Mixed Media, Souvenir Catalogue Workshop. The workshop was designed to extend the skills of beginner and intermediate level artists, as well as to raise funds for Mission Arts. All participants were able to put their new skills and knowledge to the creation of personal art work in addition to painting catalogue jackets for the 2018 Mission Arts Awards Exhibition.
The front jackets to the exhibition catalogue feature an original artwork from various artists. This is a unique opportunity for attendees on opening night to buy an original work for the home, office or even, as a gift. Proceeds of the catalogue jackets will go to Mission Arts to help further future exhibitions and workshops.
Workshop instructor Sue Pullman provided handy tips, technical demonstration and personal critique, and helped broaden student knowledge and confidence. Key to the success of the workshop and donation of artwork was Sue's assistance to students in developing their artistic abilities and supporting their ideas and visual language through peer mentorship.
"Today's workshop inspired me to step out of my comfort zone and freely explore a new medium using watercolour crayons and ink." Marcia Baker said. "It broadened my knowledge how to include mixed media in my art. I am a firm believer that everyone always has something to learn from every class they take."
Participants gained knowledge in designing bold underpaintings and incorporating collage in their works. The workshop was so successful that many participants signed up for the following workshop Sunday 15 July. If you wish to attend this workshop please ring Mission Art on 40886116 and book your place. The opening night of Mission Arts Annual Exhibition is Friday 3 August at MARCS Park, Cassowary Drive, Mission Beach.
