Community Collaborative Project

July 31, 2018

Mission Arts (MA) has created a wonderful community artwork. This project involved all residents participating in the painting of a masterpiece on canvas. This fresh and collaborative approach to fostering interest in art and supporting Mission Arts has resulted in a painting of colourful tropical flowers.

Artist Sue Pullman sketched the proposed image on canvas and a photo was placed alongside it to guide local participants. The canvas was positioned at Mission Beach Woolworths and over four weeks many people applied individual brushstrokes on the work. The enthusiasm of residents to partake in the project was amazing!

'It was a wonderful community project with over 100 people painting. There were young children, novice participants and others with some art experience" Carol Giuliany, Treasurer of MA stated. 'When the painting was nearing completion local artist, Sue Pullman, helped finalise it. We have auctioneer Pete Falkner to sell the artwork on Friday 3 August. It is a lovely vibrant painting and would be stunning on someone's wall.'

The Artwork is titled 'Tropical Flowers Delight' and will be auctioned at the opening of the MA Awards Exhibition starting at 6pm. This night is a private function and tickets can be purchased at Mission Arts, Ibu and Bean, Art Print Frame and The Hair Strand.
