Coconut Shores...Sneak Preview

August 29, 2020

Mission Arts feels so privileged to represent artists from across the Cassowary Coast but especially the upcoming exhibition, ‘Coconut Shores’, by local artist Jenn Payne, opening 2 to 13 October 2020. This exhibition contains many new works and this is a special sneak peek of her stunning collection for our valued clients to view.

Featuring contemporary fine art paintings from small to huge, you cannot overlook the impressive feature artwork titled ‘Coconut Shores’. ‘‘Painting is all about taking an idea and communicating that idea to other people using paint and brush. I always consider what happens before I pick up my brush, what the initial idea is and how to turn this into something worth painting.’’ Jenn stated.  ‘‘My artwork, ‘Coconut Shores’, took one week to paint and includes what I am passionate about, our rich tropical environment, my love for the coconut palms, the flora, fauna and of course our Cassowaries.’’

‘Coconut Shores' was painted in Jenn’s private studio at Wongaling whilst listening to relaxing Tahitian and Island style music.  “My artwork starts with a spark of inspiration.  My advice for new artists is make sure you capture those brief moments so you can nurture them into your paintings. I keep a record of all the painting ideas I come up with and for this artwork I used my own reference photos.”  Jenn said. “Coconut Shores is all about storytelling, it is about communicating and providing a visual narrative between our vibrant coastline, its waters and our wildlife.”

Jenn's solo exhibition will be on display from 2-13 October and will feature over 40 works including paintings on canvas, paintings on coconuts, and other tropical surprises! Opening Night will be held on Friday, 2 October at 6pm. Entry is free though, due to COVID capacity limits, advance bookings are required. Click here to RSVP for Opening Night.
