Patrick and Truus Biddlecombe

5 September, 2013

Truus and Patrick Biddlecombe came to Mission Beach in 1997 after having lived and worked together in five different countries. They met in Amsterdam in 1973 while Patrick was working for the Hilton Hotels group as a chef world wide.

They chose Mission Beach for their retirement as it has something to offer that is reminiscent of the many countries they have lived in. They threw themselves into community life and have been involved in many organisations. Truus soon became the volunteer manager of the Mission Beach Visitor Information Centre and held the position for eight years. Patrick cooks every week for Meals on Wheels and every year he organises a cooking competition for professional chefs in Cairns. His passions are cooking, golf and travel, and for many years he was the food master of the Mission Beach & Burgundy Club.

Truus has been involved with the Mission Beach Community Association Inc. since its inception and runs a successful “MBCA news” service for the members. She delivers for Meals on Wheels and is a Red Cross Emergency Services Volunteer.

Patrick and Truus' passion for travel has seen them adventuring in their 4WD camper around and through the middle of Australia several times. Their annual overseas trips are legendary and they have now visited more than 70 countries and every continent. Museum and art gallery visits are always on their agenda. It is no wonder that they decided to support Mission Arts as patrons as they love the arts!
