Location: Mission Arts

with a series of fibre workshops leading up to the group exhibition of all things textile

Following the success of the first  "Threads" exhibition last year, Mission Arts will be hosting a two-month Fibre and Textile  festival from late March, through  April and May. The main Threads exhibition  will open on the 27th April, and is open to all Cassowary Coast textile artists.

There will be workshops featuring a variety of fibre crafts during April and May, including introductions to felting, knitting and crochet, machine embroidery, indigo shibori, silk fibre sculpture and coiled basketry. At Easter, Marion Gaemers will be presenting a workshop making sculpture from beach–rope and other recycled materials.  There will be some workshops held during the school holidays to suit young and older participants.

A new event will be a Fibre and Textile Art Market, to be held at Mission Arts on the weekend of the 12th and 13th May. Stall spaces are available for artists and craft workers to display and sell their work, and there will be demonstrations of various crafts during the day.
