An exciting exhibition featuring the works of six local artists, known collectively as the Green painters.
"GREENISH", an exciting new exhibition featuring six local artists known as the GREEN painters, opens at Mission Beach Community Arts Centre on Friday, 7th June 2019 at 6:00pm.
It all began in August 2010 when artist and teacher, Kim Rayner, commenced oil painting classes in Mission Beach. Four people attended - fresh, raw, and untrained (i.e. ‘green’) but eager to learn and grow as ‘artists’. Under Kim’s tutelage, the group’s first exhibition in 2013, titled “GREEN” was a huge success with most art works sold on the opening night. Their second exhibition titled “GREEN AS” was a further achievement with art lovers, community members and local dignitaries attending opening night and taking in the impressive works.
Now they are back again with a fresh, exciting exhibition titled GREENISH. Today the group has six members and, with Kim as teacher, will showcase their skills, techniques and knowledge across different mediums and themes. Each artist interprets subject matter in their own unique style and presents a diverse and unique collection of works with a story, statement and expression. This group of work holds the GREENISH exhibition together.
“We have been painting over the past 18 months for this exhibition.” Pete Faulkner said. “Kim Rayner has guided and supported us, empowered us with the passion to paint and express ourselves individually. The GREENISH artists have their own individual styles and use different materials, colours, and equipment to demonstrate their unique talent.”
The GREENISH exhibition features works by Pete Faulkner, Lynda Hannah, Carol Giuliany, Bruce Parry, Shara Cassidy and Sue Pullman.
